I am fascinated by how those first pioneers of our Faith actually spoke to people who had never ever heard the name of Christ before. What did they say? How did they attract people to Him?
Perhaps it was the message of “love your neighbour, love your enemy” which struck a chord. Perhaps it was a violent society where people had got caught up in an ever-deepening spiral of attack and counter-attack, especially among neighbouring clans with arguments over territory and so on. Perhaps the nausea had set in where many realised that the situation was futile and needed something to dig them out of it. The Christian message may have come along at the right time, in the providential plan of God, and the people seized hold of it as their salvation from a hopeless situation.
