The Scalan Association relies on the subscriptions paid by members to maintain the buildings and the grounds. For many years the subscription has been held at £10.00 with an encouragement for members to give a further donation if they felt able. Members normally receive copies of the "Scalan News" twice a year, and an invitation to the Annual General Meeting.

Each year, on the first Sunday in July (at 4.00pm), the Association organises a public outdoor Mass at The Scalan. This year, as an exception to mark the 250th anniversary of the secret consecration of Bishop George Hay on Trinity Sunday 1769, the annual Mass is being held on Trinity Sunday, 16 June 2019, at 4.00pm. All are welcome. Scalan can be reached by leaving Tomintoul on the A939 (B9008 Dufftown). Just beyond Auchnarrow, about five miles later, Scalan is signposted (three and a half miles distant) on an unclassified but good single-track road, with passing places. For those using satellite systems, AB37 9JS is a useful postcode. It should get you to Chapeltown of Glenlivet. After passing the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, the whisky distillery and the water-bottling plant, all on your right, the road becomes a country track for the last mile to Scalan. Cars and minibuses can continue on to park quite close to Scalan, but coaches need to stop here. However, on the day of the annual Mass, car drivers can be confidently waved down by those who need a lift along the track. Sensible shoes are required, and one should be prepared for any weather. Scalan has its own climate system! Please observe the Country Code, shutting field gates and respecting what is a place of work for some, and home for all who live there.
