The Annual Mass at Scalan next year will not be on the first Sunday of July, our normal fixture, but on Sunday 16 June (at our normal time, 4.00pm). We are celebrating the 250th anniversary of the consecration of Bishop George Hay which took place in the upstairs chapel at Scalan, in secret because of the Penal Laws, on Trinity Sunday 2019. Trinity Sunday is a moveable feast and in 2019 it falls on 16 June. So, get the forward planner out, and be there! Bishop Hay was appointed as co-adjutor Vicar Apostolic of the Lowland District, as assistant to Bishop James Grant. He succeeded him when Bishop Grant died in 1778. We celebrate Bishop Hay because he was the architect of the Catholic Revival..
